You have often heard them say be all you can be, but it’s not always easy. I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course it’s hard to think of anything else when there are real issues to be discussed. However here are a few questions you should ask yourself as you prepare for your self improvement.
10 Questions You Should Ask Yourself as You Face Challenges
We are all faced with challenges and problems but we should never allow them to bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Our childhood aspirations should continue to live within us, even though it would be short-lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… or can they?
Here are a few questions you should ask yourself in your self-improvement preparation:
1. What do I really want out of life?
The question of the ages. There are so many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about doing it. It seem as if time is running out.
If you have not yet gotten what you really wanted out of life it might still not too late. Try finding your passion again and that thing that you are good at and love. This can help you realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.
2. Should I really change?
The youths of today have redefined the meaning of ‘self’, or at least that’s what their attitude are saying. Having a close association with so many teenagers has taught me that our problem as a teenager is nothing compared to their’s. Back then acne, pregnancy or maybe even promiscuity was the worst thing that could happen to us now a days the issues of these teenagers have doubled ten folds.
So how does all that is happening now fits into your lifestyle? Should you change to fit in? If history has taught us anything, it’s the life that we have gone through and the morals that have guided us through. Try to see if partying Seventies style would appeal to the younger generation. Or, are you comfortable dressing age appropriate or do you feel you have to be in the latest to fit in?
3. What’s the bright side in all of this?
With so much happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes the cares and pressures of our daily lives are so much that the once bright light at the end of the tunnel is no longer a positive thing.
However if you still have hope that things are going to get better and this too shall pass, then there is still that glorious light at the end of the tunnel. Look at it this way, if at the end of the tunnel there is no light and all you see is a train take it for a ride and see where it takes you.
4. Am I comfortable with what I’m doing?
There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, a special blouse or that nice dress. We are all unique in our own special way that is why we don’t all dress the same when going to church, to the mall or even when going to work even if we wear uniforms.
So you have to find who you are and be yourself, if you are not comfortable with what you are doing like how you dress, the job you are doing or the relationships you are in, chances are, you are not being true to yourself. So you have to decide whether you are comfortable or not, if not, do you want to continue?
5. Have I done enough for myself?
Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you’ll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.
After you have analyse it all if you have not done enough for yourself you can start doing the little things that can be done easily to gain confidence so you can go on to the bigger ones.
6. Am I happy at where I am today?
This maybe an unfair question but it is a good one. You love being a good and loving mother to your children you have done and given them all you could and that makes you feel good, but where are they now? Maybe moved on in life by starting their own family, gone off to college or still at home but living their own life. The truth is, they will always love you but are you happy at where you are today?
Is yours everyday life now what you envisioned 25 years ago is this the life you wanted to live? Can you now rest comfortable and enjoy the fruits of your labour?
7. Am I appealing to the opposite sex?
You might not have the answer to that one but there is no harm in asking yourself that question. If you don’t, then you can start shaping up and change the way you wear your clothes or hair, or even your attitude towards people.
8. How much could I have?
I suppose in this case there is no such things as having things too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really need it. I’d like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?
9. What motivates me?
What motivates you? It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It’s not like you can’t have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that’s it. Just try it piece by piece.
10. What Really Makes You Tick?
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want.
